Is the second largest city in Libya, situated on the eastern side of the Gulf of Sirt. It is a major commercial center and port built around a large double harbor. The modern city displays little of its ancient heritage and is mostly a postwar development. But Benghazi make a good base for touring the GreenMountain area (Al Jabal Akhdar )and there are good bathing beaches nearby.
